Time Flies ... When you are having Fun!

Need to put something together to feed the Botts, IYKWIM?

Last week end the Wife of my youth and me Traveled up the 99 to my sisters house, so we could spend Friday evening with one of our Spiritual Sons who lives with his family in Modesto. It was great seeing how some of the spiritual perspectives and practices are still a part of their lives and ministries.

And we spent Saturday with another Spiritual Son, who is here from The Republic Of Belarus in the former USSR.

DenO is on assignment from his company who is subbing out work from Google and will be heading home to Minsk next Saturday!

I will be writing about our blessing with DenO from our trip in 1995 later on when I start the second year.

It has been 2 years since we have seen him and it was great to spend the day with him. My Sister went with us and we had a great lunch at the Red Robin and then it was the ladies pleasure to go shopping with him for his 3 year old, as I tried to not look bored.

We discussed the many different aspects of our relationship. In addition, how we prayed with him and were a part of him becoming a faithful servant of our Lord!

We had Pizza for diner and then bid him adieu, for a short season. He will return in a couple weeks hopefully with wife and daughter. Looking forward to seeing all of them.

I will be back later today with a little Revenue generator and next week with more Ministry!

Another Cowboy Missionary! ~ ~ ~ ~ Trip To Moldova Part 5.

Mix could speak English and told us that he had been playing Country & Western (i.e. Cowboy Music) in the Saint Petersburg clubs, when he accepted Christ as his savior. Later I explained, even to Pat, as he was a generation younger than I that there was Tom Mix the famous Movie star called “The Singing Sheriff’ crossing over from silent screen into “The Talkies”. (See Olive Stokes Mix’s Bio of “The Fabulous Tom Mix)”

We became friends with him and gave him some of the books. Before we left, we traded telephone numbers with him and promised to stay in touch. A couple months later, he called and told us that he was going to be in Minsk and would like to see us. He had contacted the WOF office and they were going to give him some more books, for his outreach down south.

Down South … … … I have to throw this in here.

The Wife of my youth, when she came back with me in 1995 and I had learned our Survival Russian with apparently the local Accent, as there was not any laughing, when we tried. Even to questioning us about saying, that we did not understand Russian. The boys told Pat and me, on our way back to Minsk that the Russian spoken in Moldova had a different sound to it, compared to that in Belarus. Pat and I noticed that and referred to them having a Southern Accent. Of course, we had to explain the different … almost dialects spoken in the States.

I am not sure when ‘Caller ID’ came out here in the States, Nevertheless, Never seeing it before at home, I was impressed to see our hostess and her son look at the telephone to check who was calling before answering it. That was the only area seen and only in Chisinau that the former USSR was ahead of us in technology.

Our hostess, as I wrote about earlier, made sure we were home in the evening or made sure we knew to go about getting there, when we wanted to continue with what we were doing at “Sun Down”. She parked her car in a garage she had rented, as you did not leave your vehicle on the streets if you wanted to keep it whole!

We never question what she did during those hours and she never spoke about it herself.

One evening (Apparently a night off.) as we all were having dinner; she started questioning Pat and I about our calling and finally around to our families, as the boys interpreted for us. She was ok with Pat’s wife and family being in Minsk and we would be returning within the week. Nevertheless, when she found out that my wife was in the States and I had committed to three to six months of being there, (It wound up to being four.) she really got into the Questioning. She wanted to know what was wrong, and I had to work hard at convincing her that we were happily married, with Pat confirming what I said. Best be it known to you, that I was extra sure of never being alone with her. Pat teased me about it several times and back in Minsk, we could laugh about it. It sure was not funny at the time.

We had accomplished quite a bit and were satisfied that the mission was fulfilled and that our successful quests for contacts were made for the Saws eventual return.

Our hostess took us to the train Station and we thank her with additional cash. We said our good byes with a handshake and we boarded for our twenty-two hour return to Minsk, as I was relieved.

Next week More Ministry in Minsk.

Again For The First Time ~ ~ (A Note!)

I need to look at things I say, I do and especially the things I write, "Again For The First Time!" I have been using this commonly used, (What I Call) maxim for the last 30 years. The many times of using it, I never heard any one else use it, except those who had heard me use it several times and knew that I would recognize why they used it.

Today I Googled for that little ditty and was amazed at even book titles using it.

Nevertheless, the majority of the results were to Spirituals, which blessed me anyhow!

What can I say ... But there goes my contribution to originality ... which again proves that Solomon was right: There Is Nothing New Under The Sun. Eccles. 1:9c;

My contribution for today and back to the drawing (Writing) board!

More ~ THOUGHTS ~ On Discernment ~ ~ And Other Things.

To start this post I was thinking about what I said yesterday:

Funny not ‘Ha Ha’ how just giving thought to ‘thought’ “starts the ball to roll’

Today (Using won of my commonly used maxims,) “Again For The First Time!

I am thrilled seeing and knowing that Writing things down clarifies my own ‘Belief System’. Moreover, at the same time, share with my readers a perspective that possibly will open them to an enlarged picture of what is going on in their lives, too.

In addition, needing to exhort you, my readers to understand that I would not have you believe what I believe, per se. I would rather have The Holy Spirit to be your teacher, (John 14:26;) especially thru The Word Of God and then only with confirmation. (Deut. 17:6; Matthew 18:16; 2 Cor. 13:1; 1 Tim. 5:19; Hebrews 10:28;) Then be a Berean! (Acts 17:10-11;)

Lot of believers think that Discernment is one of the So Called ‘Gifts Of The Spirit’ spelled out in 1Cor. 12. No big thing, yet it is discerning of spirits, not Discernment. In other words, not to clarify or judge something obscure or out of focus, but to be aware of what spirit is behind &/or influencing what is being said or being done.

What I will write about next time in this segment called Thoughts will be what I have hinted at in the last two. i.e. The So Called ‘Gifts Of The Spirit’

Thoughts On Discernment! ~ ~ Or Lack Of Same!

It is Time for another thought, to work its way to the surface. Funny not ‘Ha Ha’ how just giving thought to ‘thought’ “starts the ball to roll’. Discernment is something that keeps me on my toes and when I allow, it guides me to take action that gives God The Glory. Now I am not a big time preacher that has a large following, yet enough of one to be aware of going in the right direction; Not that the wrong direction is necessarily sin per se. The proof of the pudding and where the rubber meets the road is in ‘The After fact’ of that action and to see that someone received ministering and more importantly, that God received The Glory.

What is discernment and what part of The Ministry is it? For one thing, it is not one of the so-called “Gifts of The Spirit”. You might have a problem with me writing that and at this point, that statement is for the sake of argument and will be elaborated on later. I love the English Language! Was I talking about Discernment or “Gifts of The Spirit”? Can you tell at this point, that I am having fun with this? Of course, some will say, ‘Blasphemy and I am contradicting The Word Of God’! The proverbial, “We will see, won’t we?” First things first!

Scripture states that we see through (the) glass darkly, (1Cor. 13:12;) more like not very well. So many times, confrontation by and/or presented an obscure situation. Often we jump the gun and try to guess our way through it. Alternatively, we judge from empirical evidence. Either way we miss the opportunity to have The Precious Holy Spirit not only, to reveal, yet also to meet the need before us.

There is a need to put a parenthetical exhortation at this time. What you are reading is not for preachers and /or so-called Pastors alone. You can tell I am meddling now! Yet every Believer should be aware of this Discernment and believe it is for us all today!

Now the exciting part is to relate to successful episodes of the past. Even as I write this a brother placed on my heart and a phone call that allowed us both to know that with the ongoing lessons of trusting HIM we are both doing well at what HE has us doing! At this time, phone calls seemed to be the modus operandi; nevertheless, not allowing that to be the norm.

What can I write, not knowing much until the situation presents itself? Should someone or something seem to be hanging there as if it is in another realm, act on it, without a doubt it is!

I will put this to rest this evening and save those possible irritations above for the next time.
